Salam hormat,

Here's what I know, Tan Sri Muhammad Muhammad Taib could have possibly studied some silat, but he was better known as the former President of PESAKA.

Dato Seri Hishamuddin Hussein, I know has studied WTF Taekwondo to a intermediate level. Don't know what belt though.

Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim studied Silat Cekak during his studies at Universiti Malaya and held a close relationship with his teacher, Allahyarham Ustaz Hanafi Haji Ahmad, going so far as to consult him on his entrance to UMNO. Recently, he was awarded the title of Ketua Imam Khalifah Besar of Silat Seni Pusaka Gayong Malaysia.

And yes, once upon a time, the word Pendekar (Pandai Akal) was used to refer to any intellectual who could navigate strategy and tactics well, be it in the field of politics, open combat or journalism. Just as a Pandai Besi is an expert in metallurgy, so too is the Pandai Akal an expert in the mind.

Salam persilatan,
