KLANG: An assistant silat instructor was charged yesterday with molesting one of his students.
Selamat Md Said, 46, was alleged to have used criminal force to molest a 22-year-old between 11pm and midnight on March 15 last year.
Magistrate Mujid Saroji set bail at RM3,500 in one surety and fixed April 25 for mention.
Two weeks ago, silat master Baharrudin Zakariya, 54, whom Selamat was assisting, was charged with raping two students, aged 20 and 14.
Sessions Court judge Zunaidah Mohd Idris set bail at RM20,000 pending mention on April 12.

Silat trainer claims trial to rape charge
A SILAT trainer claimed trial to raping two of his pupils at the Klang Sessions Court yesterday.
Baharuddin Zakariya, 54, pleaded not guilty to raping two girls, aged 20 and 14, at his training ground in Teluk Gadong, Klang.
The first victim, 20, was allegedly raped by the accused towards the end of 2006.
The 14-year-old was allegedly raped on Jan 17 in a bush near the training ground at 11.30pm.
Judge Zunaidah Mohd Idris fixed RM10,000 bail for each charge and fixed April 12 for mention.

'If I can't have her, no one else will'
SHAH ALAM: A jilted lover told a silat master that if he could not have Norzi Ayu Md Noor, then no one else would, a murder trial heard yesterday.
Having said this, the accused, Irawadi Muhammad, 24, held his former girlfriend Norzi at knife-point, as silat master Azman Mat Zain pleaded in vain with him to release her.
Azman, 33, the fourth prosecution witness, told the High Court that for one hour on July 26, last year, he pleaded with Irawadi to let Norzi Ayu go.
"I told Irawadi to remember Allah, and to be patient.
I told him to find another, as he is still young.
"I also told him to leave the place and I would not report the matter to the police," he said during examination-in-chief by DPP Salehuddin Saidin.
Azman: At this juncture, Irawadi replied, 'If I can't have her, no one else would'.
I tried to calm Irawadi down as he held a knife to Norzi Ayu's abdomen.
I told him to sit down and discuss the matter but he refused.
"Eventually, Norzi Ayu ran into a room, followed by Irawadi who then locked the room.
I knocked on the door several times, calling out to Norzi Ayu but there was no reply.
"I rushed to the living room, found a set of keys, and tried opening the door.
On my second attempt, I managed to open the door." Salehuddin: What did you see when you opened the door? Azman: I saw the accused lying on a bed, while the victim was lying face down on the floor.
I pounced on the accused and tried to grab the knife.
Irawadi tried to stab me but I managed to evade the attacks.
The witness said after he managed to flee from the accused, he rushed to Norzi Ayu and saw her collapse on the living room floor.
"When I saw blood on her shirt in the region of the abdomen, I carried her to my car and sent her to the Kajang Hospital.
"I also told Irawadi to leave as I wanted to send Norzi Ayu to the hospital.
At that juncture, the accused fled from the scene." Azman said the knife which the accused held was about 25.4cm long.
On the way to the hospital, Azman said he called out to Norzi Ayu but she just shook her head, continuously.
"That same night, Norzi Ayu passed away," said Azman, a security officer at the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in Bangi.
Irawadi is charged with murdering Norzi Ayu, a researcher at Institute of Medical Research, on July 26, last year, between 3.30pm and 5pm, at 2-1-6, Block ST2, Apartment Sri Tanjung, Jalan 7/1D, Section 1, Bandar Baru Bangi.

Silat master admits to 'relationship' with Norzi
SILAT master Azman Mat Zain, who had taught martial arts to both Norzi Ayu Md Noor and the ex-boyfriend who is being charged with her murder, admitted yesterday that he was seeing the researcher in 2001.
The 33-year-old, who is the fourth prosecution witness in the murder trial, said at the time Norzi Ayu was still with Irawadi Muhammad, an economics graduate.
"When Irawadi learnt of our relationship the following year, he came to my house while I was at home with my wife, and told me to stop seeing Norzi Ayu.
"After the incident, I ended my relationship with Norzi Ayu," he added.
Azman also told the court that at a silat competition in UKM three days before her murder, Norzi Ayu had introduced to him a Mohd Izrel Yahya Umpong as her new boyfriend.

'Norzi told me she had been threatened'
SHAH ALAM: Three months before her death, Norzi Ayu Md Noor's relationship with boyfriend Irawadi Muhammad was heading for the rocks.
The medical researcher had told her silat master that they were always arguing.
Azman Mat Zain, 33, the silat master who is also a security officer at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in Bangi, told the High Court yesterday that he knew both Norzi Ayu and Irawadi well, as both were his students.
During examination-in-chief by DPP Salehuddin Saidin, the fourth prosecution witness said he knew Norzi Ayu since 1997 and came to know Irawadi in 2001.
"In July last year, I sent Norzi Ayu home on two occasions after she told me she had been threatened," he said.
Salehuddin: In July, did she tell you about her personal problems? Azman: Yes.
She mentioned that between April and June that they were constantly quarrelling.
She, however, did not give any reasons for the arguments.
Salehuddin: On July 26, last year, between 1pm and 3.30pm, where were you? Azman: I was on duty at the UKM security office.
Salehuddin: Did you receive a telephone call regarding Norzi Ayu? Azman: Yes.
At 2.45pm, I received a call on my mobile phone from an unidentified woman.
She asked if I was Azman.
She then said: "Come to Norzi Ayu's house.
It is very important." I didn't ask who she was, but the woman told me she got a note stating that I was needed by Norzi Ayu.
Salehuddin: What did you do after that? Azman: I rushed to Norzi Ayu's house on the first floor of the Sri Tanjung Flats in Section 7, Bandar Baru Bangi.
I saw her front grille locked.
Another padlock was broken and on the floor.
I called out Irawadi's name.
Salehuddin: Why did you call his name? Azman: I guessed he was at her home, as Norzi Ayu had previously told me Irawadi had broken into her home before.
Salehuddin: Did anyone answer you? Azman: No.
I was there for about 30 minutes, before looking for alternative ways to get in.
I went to the ground floor and saw a ladder on a lorry.
I took the ladder and climbed into her home.
When I reached the balcony, I opened the door and went to the front of the flat.
"There, I saw Irawadi and Norzi Ayu.
Irawadi was shocked when he saw me, and quickly grabbed Norzi Ayu by her neck with one hand, while holding a knife in his other hand.

Keris heist at museum
KUALA LUMPUR: Claiming to be the legendary Malay warrior Hang Jebat, a man smashed a glass cabinet at the National Museum and escaped with an 18th century dagger on Tuesday.
The 35-year-old suspect, broke into a silat stance when approached by a security guard and threatened to slash him with the 98.5cm 'Keris Bali'.
The guard backed down and the suspect drove off in a lorry.
The suspect, however, was arrested four hours later and the dagger recovered.
Brickfields police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Dzuraidi Ibrahim said the suspect is a schizophrenic who has been receiving treatment since 1988 at Seremban Hospital.
The self-employed was yesterday remanded for four days to facilitate investigations.
The drama unfolded about 1.30pm on Tuesday when the suspect went to the weapons gallery on the second floor of the building and tried to smash the glass cabinet by punching it.
After several failed attempts, he finally broke the cabinet with a flying kick.
All this drama was recorded on CCTV.
He then took the dagger and walked towards the back of the museum.
At this juncture a security guard spotted him and caught up with him at the car park and that was when the man broke into a silat stance.
He warned the guard that he was Hang Jebat and that the dagger belonged to him.
He then cooly got into his lorry and drove away after waving to the guard.
Dzuraidi said police found the suspect at his home in Kampung Rinching Hilir, Bangi, later that day.
He was at home with his wife and month-old baby.
The dagger was found in a cupboard in one of the rooms.
The dagger with a sinewy blade is from Bali.
It has figurines of Hindu deities on its hilt and is said to be a ceremonial dagger.
The dagger was sold to the museum by a private collector for RM18,000, five years ago.

Victim broke off with suspect months ago
KAJANG: An economics graduate under investigation for the murder of medical researcher Norzi Ayu Md Noor, had told the victim's father that he had been intimate with her.
The 23-year-old suspect, who works in a bank in Serdang, had visited Norzi Ayu at her family home in Taman Maznah in Klang two weeks ago where he had "vowed" to marry her, despite her refusal to have anything to do with him.
This was revealed to The Malay Mail yesterday by Norzi Ayu's father, Md Noor Dahari, 52, as he waited to claim her remains at the Kajang Hospital mortuary.
Md Noor, a sea traffic controller attached to North Port, said the suspect, believed to be a Kelantanese, was adamant about marrying Norzi Ayu.
"He even had the gall to tell me that he slept with my daughter on several occasions and that gave him the right to marry her," the father said.
"Of course, I did not believe him.
I asked my daughter and she vehemently denied the allegations." Md Noor said he knew the suspect had a crush on his daughter but she broke off the relationship several months ago.
"She was seeing someone else, one of her colleagues and they had planned to get engaged soon," Md Noor said.
Norzi Ayu, 27, is the eldest of five children.
She was pursuing her Masters in genetic research at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
She was also an officer with the Insitute for Medical Research in Kuala Lumpur.
She had been renting a unit at the Sri Tanjung Apartments in Section 7, Bandar Baru Bangi with three housemates.
Norzi Ayu was attacked while she was alone in her flat on Monday afternoon.
She is believed to have been stabbed twice in the abdomen.
She died several hours later at the Kajang Hospital.
Selangor CID chief Senior Assistant Commissioner II Abu Bakar Mustafa confirmed that a suspect was in custody and that he was arrested at 8.30pm on Monday when he went to the Kajang Hospital to visit Norzi Ayu.
He said the suspect will be remanded for two weeks to help in investigations.
The Malay Mail learnt that the suspect entered Norzi Ayu's apartment about 3pm and that there was a loud argument before she was stabbed.
Norzi Ayu is believed to have put up a struggle.
She even managed to send an SMS to her silat instructor, to whom she was close.
Investigations also showed that the victim had scribbled a note on a piece of paper, saying that she was in danger.
She also urged the reader to contact the silat instructor whose cell phone number was written in the note.
The note was thrown out of a window on her first floor unit.
It is also learnt that someone picked up the note and immediately contacted the silat instructor.
It is further learnt that the silat instructor had confronted the assailant, who was holding Norzi Ayu hostage (see accompanying story).
But despite the silat instructor's efforts to "calm" him, the assailant stabbed Norzi Ayu twice in the abdomen before escaping on foot.
The silat instructor took her to the hospital.
Yesterday, the silat instructor was at the Kajang Hospital morgue with Norzi Ayu's family members.
He was seen accompanying Norzi Ayu's remains to the Klang Muslim cemetery where she was buried.

Her silat instructor, identified only as Man, who rushed to her apartment after hearing that she was in trouble, saw the assailant grab Norzi Ayu from behind, holding a knife to her side.
"I tried to talk him into releasing her but he would not listen.
He was shouting and kept warning me not to come any closer," he said.
"He then pulled her into a room and that was when she was stabbed.
He then walked out and I rushed in to see if she was allright." Man, a silat gayung instructor at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, refused to say anything more except that he was close to her and he knew her family as well.
It is learnt that the suspect and Norzi Ayu were Man's students.
Norzi Ayu's neighbour at the Sri Tanjung apartments, Ibrahim Rifqi, in his 30s, said he was at home taking a nap when he was awakened by shouts from Norzi's unit.
"I got curious when the argument went on for almost 30 minutes," Ibrahim said.
When he opened his front door, he saw the victim sitting at her doorway and she was being attended by a man who told him that she had been stabbed.
"He pointed out the assailant to me.
The assailant was wearing a white shirt and a crash helmet.
He was walking down the corridor," he said.
Ibrahim gave a chase but the suspect managed to escape.
It is learnt that the suspect went to a stream 2km away where he was believed to have disposed of the murder weapon.
Yesterday, the suspect led police to the river where he had allegedly thrown the murder weapon.
Scuba divers from the Putrajaya Fire and Rescue Department searched the river for almost two hours for the murder weapon but could not find it.

It is learnt that the suspect and Norzi Ayu were Man's students.
Norzi Ayu's neighbour at the Sri Tanjung apartments, Ibrahim Rifqi, in his 30s, said he was at home taking a nap when he was awakened by shouts from Norzi's unit.
"I got curious when the argument went on for almost 30 minutes," Ibrahim said.
When he opened his front door, he saw the victim sitting at her doorway and she was being attended by a man who told him that she had been stabbed.
"He pointed out the assailant to me.
The assailant was wearing a white shirt and a crash helmet.
He was walking down the corridor," he said.
Ibrahim gave a chase but the suspect managed to escape.
It is learnt that the suspect went to a stream 2km away where he was believed to have disposed of the murder weapon.
Yesterday, the suspect led police to the river where he had allegedly thrown the murder weapon.
Scuba divers from the Putrajaya Fire and Rescue Department searched the river for almost two hours for the murder weapon but could not find it.

Silat instructor suspected of molest freed on police bail
TAIPING, Fri. - A 47-year-old silat olahraga instructor suspected of molesting four of his female students was released on police bail after his five-day remand expired today.
His hands were still handcuffed when he was escorted from the Taiping magistrate's court today.
A father of eight, the man had friends, students and relatives waiting for his release at the compound of the magistrate's court, but they were not allowed to communicate with him.
He surrendered to the police on Monday and was detained to assist police investigation into the allegations of molest.

Assaults took place in the gym
TAIPING: It was more than just groping her body.
This was the shocking revelation made to The Malay Mail by a teenager who had earlier alleged that her 47-year-old silat instructor had molested her.
She said it had gone on for an entire year before she gathered enough courage to report the matter.
The 16-year-old school dropout claimed that she was first raped in June 2002 after training at a gym in Taman Ayer Kuning.
Recounting her ordeal, she said the man grabbed her from behind when she was about to leave the gym.
"I blacked out.
When I came to, I found myself naked," she said.
She said she left immediately, after putting on her clothes without confronting the father of eight.
The girl, who was 14 at the time, said the silat instructor had made suggestive overtures.
She said he had offered her so-called magical powers to maintain her beauty and physical strength.
"He was not happy when when I turned down his offer, but I never thought he would turn on me physically," she added.
She said she was not sure what had happened and thus kept the matter to herself.
Each time, the sequence of the instructor's alleged `rapes' was the same: A grab on any part of her body, followed by blackouts.
However, she remembered that her instructor had warned her not to tell anyone of what he did.
"He threatened me with black magic if anyone were to find out (what happened)," she said.
Her instructor's lust did not stop at the gym.
Once, she was instructed to fondle the man's penis when they were travelling on a bus for the Royal Pahang Martial Arts Festival in Kuantan in June, last year.
Just before she was about to compete, the man suggested a `mandi bunga' ritual, with him giving her the bath.
"I was baffled by his suggestion.
It was four hours before I was due to compete.
I refused," she said.
"I had enough of his antics, I just quit the sport after that," she said.
Courage to confront the matter came with the help of another silat instructor, who had taught her previously.
Accompanying the girl during the interview yesterday, the man, who is in his late 30s, said he saw a distinct change in her behaviour and suspected that something was wrong.
"She is a bright kid.
Very talented and dedicated to her sport.
The six months I observed her showed a different person from the one I knew," he said.
He said initially she merely said that the man had groped her, but admitted later that it was more than that.

Molest of students: Instructor detained
IPOH, Mon. - A 47-year-old silat instructor wanted in connection with several molest cases was detained in Taiping this morning.
Perak Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner II Wan Mohamad Wan Abdullah said the man surrendered at the Taiping police station at 10am after four of his female students, aged between 15 and 16, lodged reports against him last Friday.
The alleged molests took place at a gymnasium in Ayer Kuning, Taiping, during training from 2002 until this year, Wan Mohamad said after attending the Perak Police Contingent monthly gathering here.
Wan Mohamad said the incidents took place when the instructor was ostensibly teaching the victims how to maintain their "image and beauty" and "protect their skin from wrinkles".
The instructor, who is married with eight children, has managed the training centre for the past 10 years.

SILAT TEACHER ACCUSED OF MOLEST SURRENDERS IN TAIPING
IPOH, Feb 9 (Bernama) -- A silat teacher being hunted by the police in connection with reports of molestation by his female students surrendered at the Taiping Police Station today.
State CID Chief SAC II Wan Mohamad Wan Abdullah said the 47-year-old man, from Air Kuning, Taiping, surrendered at 10am and had been remanded for further investigations.
He said the arrest followed reports by four students, aged 15 and 16, last Friday that he molested them during afternoon silat sessions at a hall in Air Kuning some time between last December and January.
He said the father of eight, who had been teaching silat for 10 years, was said to have called the girls separately into a room off the hall on the pretext of teaching them facial massage but took the opportunity to grope their private parts.
Wan Mohamad also urged other victims to come forward and lodge police reports.

District police chief Superintendent Muhd Fuad Talib said the man was arrested about 3pm when he turned himself in at the district police station.
Fuad said the student, who studied in Kuala Krai, had been training with the man since July.
The student claimed he was sodomised seven times since Sept 4.
The victim had lodged a report at the Kuala Krai police station a few days ago.
Fuad said the student was sent to the Kuala Krai Hospital for a check- up.

Silat instructor sought in rape of student, 17
DUNGUN, Mon. - Police are looking for a 30-year-old silat instructor suspected of raping his 17-year-old student in December last year. District police deputy chief Deputy Superintendent Rasib Mamat said the girl was allegedly raped at 11am on Dec 25, when she was at a silat class at the man's house in Dungun. Rasib said the girl's sister found out about the incident only on Jan 21 when she noticed her sister's change of behaviour, and asked if anything was wrong. A report was later lodged.

Policeman relates encounter
KUALA LUMPUR, Tues. - An Assistant Superintendent of Police told the High Court today of his encounter with the Al-Ma'unah leader Mohd Amin Mohd Razali in Bukit Jenalik, Kuala Kangsar, and his efforts to persuade him into surrendering to the armed forces.
ASP Abdul Razak Mohd Yusof, 38, said he cited a Quranic verse and a Hadis in his negotiation with Mohd Amin which started about 2pm on July 6 last year.
Abdul Razak, who is attached to the Special Forces Unit in Ulu Kinta, Perak, was brought to see Mohd Amin by one of the group members, Zahit Muslim, (who is also on trial) after they met about 30 minutes earlier at a stream near the group's base camp.
Upon meeting Mohd Amin, Abdul Razak said they shook hands.
Abdul Razak said being a person who has knowledge in silat and a Muslim, he asked Mohd Amin about the motives of his actions, but one of Mohd Amin's counsel Gobind Singh Deo objected on the ground that the reply would be hearsay.
Abdul Razak said he told Mohd Amin that he had done wrong, that he had given a bad name to Muslims by giving the impression that Muslims were terrorists and he cited a Quranic verse.
"I also told him that his actions had disgraced the silat community and that his action had given the impression that our country was weak and could easily be colonised by others," he said, adding that he cited a Hadis to strengthen his point.
Abdul Razak was testifying at the trial of Mohd Amin and 18 others charged with waging war against the Yang di-Pertuan Agong at three places in Perak between June and July 6 last year.
Earlier, Abdul Razak said he was informed that two of the group members had surrendered to the armed forces and there were many others on the hill who wanted to do the same.
When he met Zahit at the stream, Abdul Razak said Zahit told him that he wanted to surrender and before they went up the hill to meet Mohd Amin, five members of the group went to see him at the stream to surrender.
He added that there were 16 members of the group at the base camp.
At the end of his negotiation with Mohd Amin, Abdul Razak said Mohd Amin agreed to surrender but he wanted to perform a prayer first.
While Mohd Amin was praying, Abdul Razak said he contacted his ground commander Mejar Fadzil Tajuddin via a radio set, telling him that the group members had agreed to surrender. He also asked for eight men to be sent up the hill to escort the members.
The order that he got was for the group members to come down the hill with their hands on their heads.
Under cross-examination by counsel Zabidi Mohamad, appearing for Zahit, Jamaludin Darus, Ibrahim Idris and Kamarudin Mustafar, Abdul Razak said the members refused to put their hands on their heads when surrendering as their family members were waiting down the hill.
Abdul Razak said he once again contacted Fadzil and he allowed the group members to let put their hands by their side.
After Mohd Amin had performed his prayer, Abdul Razak said Mohd Amin tried to influence his men not to surrender but after some discussion, Mohd Amin agreed on one condition.
"Mohd Amin wanted five men to surrender at a time and since I was short of manpower to escort five men at a time, I called all the armed forces on standby at the hill to come and help," he said, adding that it was after this telephone call that the Army Field Commander Lt-Jen Datuk Seri Zaini Mohd Said came with four armoured personnel carriers.
"When Zaini came, I saw the group members were scared and they started to grab their weapons," he said.
Suggested that he had succeeded in persuading the group members to surrender before Zaini came into the picture, Abdul Razak disagreed.
He, however, agreed that the group memebers had agreed to surrender themselves before Zaini came.
Under cross-examination by counsel Hasnal Redzua Merican, Abdul Razak agreed that the situation at the hill was calm when he first met Zahit.
