KULAI, Oct 1 (Bernama) -- Ten silat exponents, including two national silat exponents, will represent the country in the Asean University Games (AUG) to be hosted by Thailand, in Chiangmai from Dec 15-23.
Silat team manager Azli Puddin said with the presence of the two national silat exponents, the silat team has been targetted for two gold medals.
"We believe the target of winning one gold medal each in silat seni and silat olaraga can be achieved," he told Bernama here Friday.
He added that the Malaysian exponents would face a strong challenge in their efforts to win gold medals due to the presence of formidable silat exponents from Vietnam and Indonesia.
He said Malaysia's medal hopes would be pinned on the shoulders of national exponent Wan Nur Hidayu Wan Abdul Razak, Mohd Ikbal Jusuf and his partner Mohd Faizul Sarif.
Wan Hidayu, from Universiti Perguruan Sultan Idris (UPSI) was a winner of a bronze medal at the 2007 Korat SEA Games in Thailand.
